Alison Brown has one of the most multi-faceted minds in roots music. She is a GRAMMY and EMMY-winning musician, producer, composer, former investment banker and co-founder of the internationally acclaimed, Nashville-based Compass Records Group.  She is also a frequent collaborator with actor/comedian/banjoist Steve Martin with whom she has released 2 songs that have charted #1 on the Bluegrass chart.

Alison has won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Banjo of the Year award (the first women in IBMA history to win an instrumentalist’s award) as well as the IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award.  She is also the recipient of the USA Artists Fellowship in Music and a member of American Banjo Museum’s Hall of Fame.  Alison’s most recent album ON BANJO was named a ‘Best of 2023’ by AllMusic and praised for its “innovative, wildly diverse set” that explores the range of the instrument with a cast of musical compadres including Steve Martin, Kronos Quartet, Sierra Hull, Stuart Duncan and members of the Alison Brown Quintet.
