Tim O'Brien Band
June 23, 2024 - 4PM
Tim O'Brien, a spearhead of contemporary bluegrass, co-founded and was lead vocalist of Hot Rize. In the 1980s, the Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist served as a bridge between the traditional sounds of his native West Virginia hill country and modern bluegrass. He scored a country hit with Kathy Mattea’s cover of his song Walk the Way the Wind Blows. Artists like Nickel Creek and Garth Brooks also covered his songs and he’s collaborated with artists Darrell Scott, Steve Earle, Mark Knopfler, and Sturgill Simpson.
In the business for over 50 years, O’Brien’s latest recording “Cup of Sugar” features 13 original songs with some notable characters…a bear, a fish, a grave digger, and even CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite. Together, his wit and wisdom continue to inspire songs that make listeners feel good and think deeper.
