Kim Oblak

We have a saying here at the Arb. "You'd better eat your Wheaties before Kim gets here." Like her rescue dog, Milo, Kim Oblak runs and works circles around the rest of us with a fervor, focus and enthusiasm that defies description. For instance, one of my first memories of Kim will forever be emblazoned on my mind: I arrived home from school to find her standing on a ladder, chain-sawing like crazy, with only her wily Whippet in observance. This, of course, breaks ALL the rules. Ladies and gentlemen, Kim Oblak is the whole package. With the strength of a state champion high school linebacker, Kim is our very own bionic woman. In addition, she brings to our unique sorority a lifetime of experience and academic pursuit with degrees in Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design from California Polytechnic State University – in the land of milk and honey and bougainvillea. For 10 years Kim was the owner of popular landscape business Heartland Gardens. And even though she "retired" a few years back, her clean, West Coast-inspired designs are still in demand. So next time you visit the Arb and see a flash of green Lycra, felcos flying, and spy a blue tooth attached, know that you've witnessed our unabashed and fabulous friend, Kim Oblak, in her element ~ pure joy!
