Junior Brown – Father’s Day, June 19, 2022

Junior Brown truly is an American original. From his signature guit-steel guitar to his original songs, distinctive voice and captivating stage presence, you won’t be mistaking Junior Brown for anyone else you’ve ever seen.

He’s been perfecting his act since he was a young boy in rural Indiana, where country music was, in his own words, “growing up out of the ground like the crops – it was everywhere; coming out of cars, houses, gas stations and stores like the soundtrack of a story.” Junior gravitated to country music, inspired by some of the giants of the genre - many of whom he eventually worked with. But he didn’t immediately break into the big time. “I did so many years of playing in honkytonks, night after night, four sets, fifteen-minute breaks. After that, you’ve gotta get good or you gotta get out.”

Well - he got good.

His albums have earned several Grammy nominations and a Country Music Association award. TV: Letterman, Conan, Saturday Night Live, Austin City Limits, SpongeBob, X Files, Dukes of Hazzard, Better Call Saul. Ad campaigns: The Gap, Lee Jeans, Lipton Tea. Collaborations: Ralph Stanley (which won a Bluegrass Music Association Award), Hank Thompson, the Beach Boys, George Jones, Leon McAuliffe, Ray Price, Leona Williams, Doc Watson, Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys.

It’s your turn. Soak up the Junior Brown experience at Bartlett Arboretum. Father’s Day never sounded so truly American.
