Memorial Monday, May 29 - All-American music by the Cherokee Maidens & Sycamore Swing
They croon. They scat. They swing and sing like Bing.
Think Bob Wills meets the Andrews Sisters.
The melodic braid of these three maidens is time-tested.
One was a Dixie Chick.
Two have appeared on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion. Two have sung at the Grand Ole Opry.
And all three share Native American heritage - hence their name, inspired by Cindy Walker’s 1941 country hit.
Guitar-slinger Kentucky White leads Sycamore Swing, a troupe of crackerjack musicians.
My Dixie Darling, launches Memorial Day Weekend. This third time around, it’s all about bloodlines. Kentucky’s sister, Sis White, is featured prominently on vocals. The prodigious Eichers from Tulsa (fiddling father, Shelby, with sons Nathan and Isaac on bass and mandolin) lend family-styled string arrangements on every track.
